Our concierge team is available daily to provide recommendations on how to navigate Prague and which destinations you simply shouldn’t miss. Prague is world-renowned for its architectural diversity—within a relatively small area, you can find a cross-section of nearly all major architectural styles.
In today’s article, we focus on Gothic landmarks. These unique structures define many of Prague’s iconic views, yet few visitors know which ones are truly unmissable for lovers of Gothic architecture.

Old Town Square 3
In addition to the iconic astronomical clock, the rest of this historic building also deserves your attention. Inside, you’ll find historic halls with valuable paintings, a Gothic chapel overlooking the apostles, a Gothic tower with a viewing gallery, and Romanesque-Gothic underground spaces with historical exhibitions. The history of the Old Town Hall dates back to 1338.

One of the biggest attractions, aside from the magnificent interiors, is the massive town hall tower, nearly 70 meters high, whose observation deck offers the most beautiful views of Prague’s historic center. If you’re planning to see the astronomical clock, be sure to set aside time to explore the entire building—you’ll be captivated!
Charles Bridge
Crowds of tourists stream across Charles Bridge, but they can easily overlook one of Prague’s most valuable Gothic structures. Yet the Old Town Bridge Tower is among the most impressive Gothic works in the world. The tower was built alongside the bridge at the behest of Emperor Charles IV, based on a design by Petr Parléř. The cornerstone dates back to 1357. In its time, it served as a gateway to Prague’s Old Town, but it also had other functions. For example, it symbolized a triumphal arch through which Czech kings passed on their coronation procession through the city toward Prague Castle.
A total of 138 steps lead up to the tower’s observation deck at a height of 47 meters, and the views of Charles Bridge, the Vltava River, and the entire surrounding area are truly an unforgettable experience, thanks to the unique perspective that is not available to the average passerby.

Prague Castle, First Courtyard No. 1
A true work of art, whose history began more than 1,000 years ago, has few rivals in Bohemia. Its architectural history offers a clear overview of the visual arts in Bohemia from the 10th to the 20th century. Just like the entire castle, the cathedral gradually absorbed the traces of the cultural endeavors of each era and layered them over the millennia in both vertical and horizontal strata. The cathedral building has always been a dominant feature of Prague Castle and the entire city. You simply cannot miss this monumental structure during your wanderings through Prague.

During its most recent visit to the Czech Republic, the Michelin Guide inspection team also stopped by Café Imperial, which has been included among the establishments recommended by the Michelin Guide.
Café Imperial is one of the most famous Czech restaurants and is inextricably linked with the names of Zdeněk Pohlreich and head chef Michal Pšenička. If you’d like to treat yourself to an exceptional dining experience at one of Prague’s iconic restaurants during your stay, we recommend making a reservation at least 14 days in advance.
